Our proposal seamlessly integrates the architectural language of the existing terminal with the new extension. Transparent and elegant, the Grand Hall enhances the symmetrical composition of the structure along the Franco-Swiss border axis, improving spatial clarity and readability for passengers. Designed with the passenger experience at its core, the proposal emphasizes ease of movement through the airport. Daylight is employed as a natural wayfinding system, creating intuitive navigation throughout the terminal.
The terminal’s key functions are presented in a clear, almost diagrammatic manner, ensuring passengers can immediately grasp the layout and purpose of essential areas: the multimodal hall, check-in counters, and security screening. Renovating and enhancing existing structures creates an inviting “go-to-gate” zone, enriching the passenger journey. Additionally, a reconfigured apron and a new boarding pier introduce flexible layouts, enabling seamless transitions between Schengen and Non-Schengen operations – whether traveling within the European Union or requiring passport control at non-EU borders.
Departure and arrival areas have been entirely reimagined and thoughtfully integrated with the newly operational rail station, offering a cohesive and modern passenger experience.
