CEO, Senior Partner
Wim Walschap is a Senior Partner and CEO of Herzog & de Meuron. In both roles, he leads with a structured, decisive approach shaped by decades of international experience and strong relationships across design, construction and development industries.
Throughout his career, Wim has led teams on projects ranging from pavilions to high-rises, including The Tate Modern Project in London and Helsinki Dreispitz in Basel. As a Partner, Wim is responsible for M+, a museum for visual culture in Hong Kong; the One Park Drive residential tower in London; Hauptpost Basel; and a number of other projects of diverse scales and typologies in Europe, Asia and the Americas. From concept to completion, he maintains a hands-on way of working and a strong awareness of the fundamentals of construction.
Alongside his architectural work, Wim has taken on a series of leadership responsibilities within the practice. He has been a member of the Executive Board since 2019, a member of the Strategic Board since 2023, and CEO since May of 2026. In this capacity, he helps shape the strategic and operational direction of Herzog & de Meuron while remaining actively engaged on projects as a Partner in Charge.
Wim graduated from Hoger Architectuurinstituut Sint-Lucas, Brussels, Belgium in 1993. His previous experience includes more than eight years at Robbrecht en Daem Architects in Ghent. He joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2007 with extensive architectural experience from both independent work and collaborations on residential, commercial, and institutional projects across all phases of design and construction. Wim was promoted to Associate in 2010, to Partner in 2014, and to Senior Partner in 2024.
