Markus von Grünigen

Markus von Grünigen joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2019, becoming an Associate in 2025. Markus focuses on the detailing and realization of projects of various scales and typologies in Switzerland, including the recently opened pRED Center for Roche in Basel.

Markus studied architecture from 1996 to 2000 at Fachhochschule Bern and from 2006 to 2008 at Hochschule Wismar. He has collaborated with Weber+Hofer Zürich, Bauzeit Architekten Biel, and SHS Architekten Thun. During this time, he planned and realized museums, shopping centers, hospital buildings, banks, hotels and residential buildings. For over ten years he ran his own architectural office in Thun and developed and realized a wide variety of timber buildings in the Bernese Oberland, high-quality interior design, and extensions and renovations of both historical and hospital buildings.
