Herzog & de Meuron

Edman Choy is an Associate at Herzog & de Meuron and the Studio Director of our UK office, leading projects in both public and private sectors from our London studio. Edman has extensive experience on projects across Europe and Asia, encompassing a wide range of typologies and scales. Prior to his appointment and relocation to London in 2023, Edman worked in our Hong Kong studio for over a decade. During this time, he managed the design execution and construction stages of Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Art until its opening in 2018. He was involved in the M+ Museum in Hong Kong during the competition stage in 2012 and led the team as Project Director from design execution and construction stages of the project until the museum opened in 2021. Edman coordinated the setup of H&dM’s Hong Kong office in 2014, becoming Studio Director Hong Kong in 2022. Edman joined H&dM in 2003 and worked in our Basel office until his relocation to Hong Kong in 2011.

Edman’s current and past projects include the Cambridge University Library; Liverpool Street Station Redevelopment in London; a large-scale department store for The Hyundai in Gwangju; HKJC Conghua Racecourse Grandstand in Guangzhou; corporate headquarters in Shanghai and Shenzhen; a mixed-used tower in Saigon; the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art; Jinhua Structure and Jindong New Development Area, a mixed-use residential and commercial development in Jinhua; and Tree Village Campus Master Plan and TPT Tower in Beijing.

Edman lived in Hong Kong from childhood and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2001 with a Master of Architecture degree. From 2001 to 2003, he lived and worked in Beijing for Yung Ho Chang at Atelier FCJZ.
