Herzog & de Meuron

Derya Sancar joined Herzog & de Meuron in July 2017, working for his first two years in the office on the redevelopment of the Badaevskiy Brewery in Moscow. From 2019 till 2024, Derya was Project Architect on the extension of the Schaulager, a contemporary art institution located near Basel. He is also a Project Manager for several mid-scale projects in Switzerland with a focus on sustainable architecture. Derya became an Associate in 2025.

Derya studied architecture at the EPFL, École Polytechnique FĂ©dĂ©rale de Lausanne, where he received his Master of Science in Architecture degree in 2016. At the beginning of his professional career, Derya gained experience through various internships, including at UNRWA in Ramallah, Palestine, and Schär Buri Architekten and Rolf MĂĽhlethaler, both in Bern. During his master’s studies he worked as an Assistant at the chair Laboratoire de thĂ©orie et d’histoire of Bruno Marchand at the EPFL.
