‘Rehab (from rehab)’ Documentary Available Online

The documentary film ‘Rehab (from rehab)’ by artists filmmakers Bêka & Lemoine is set within the REHAB clinic in Basel, a highly specialized clinic for neurorehabilitation and paraplegiology, and H&dM’s first hospital. In the film, we meet people who talk about their experiences and how they are rebuilding their lives with openness and personal insight. The focus is on the collaboration between patients and therapists, and on the culture of care that is cultivated in the building. The film is now available to watch online.

Since its completion in 2002, REHAB Basel has served as a reference for our healthcare projects. The concept of a hospital as a town, the use of natural materials, the integration of courtyards, daylight, and nature, and the care given to the physical environment of staff, patients, and their families began with REHAB.

The film was first screened at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in September 2023. In addition to being selected for several international screenings, the film recently won First Prize at the Venice Architecture Film Festival.
