On-Site at Hauptpost Basel

BASEL, SWITZERLAND – On-site at the Alte Hauptpost, a multi-layered building that dates back to the 14th century. After careful analysis with conservation authorities, later additions are being dismantled and the original spatial flow restored, preserving as much as possible of this historic building in the city center.

Once complete, the passageway between Gerbergasse and Freier Strasse will again be an inviting place for pedestrians. The technical storeys in the inner courtyard have been removed to reinstate a former atrium bringing down to the ground floor. The levels above will be dedicated for offices that offer generous daylight and high ceilings. A new pitched roof will carefully blend with the surrounding roofscape and feature a terrace that offers views over the historic city center.
