UNTERSIGGENTHAL, SWITZERLAND — The headquarters for the Christoph Merian Stiftung was recognized by the Prix Lignum for its innovative and future-oriented use of wood, receiving a “Auszeichnung Holzbauten Region Nord”. Associate partner Christoph Röttinger attended the event to receive the award on behalf of the project team.

Tucked in the historic center of Basel, the office building is designed as a sustainable timber structure that offers open, flexible working space. All wood was sustainably harvested from local forests and purposely left unfinished to age naturally.

The Prix Lignum is awarded every 3 years and honors the best new Swiss timber constructions and carpentry work. This year marks the sixth time since 2009 that the prize has been awarded throughout Switzerland. The competition was open to buildings, interior fittings, furniture and works of art from Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein.
