Herzog & de Meuron is an international architectural practice based in Basel, Switzerland. Established in 1978, the practice is led by the two founders together with the Partners and the CEO. Today, an international team of over 500 collaborators is engaged in a wide range of projects across Europe, the Americas and Asia. The main office in Basel works in tandem with studios in New York, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Munich, Paris and Hong Kong.
For our Business Development department either in our headquarters in Basel, or in London or NYC, we seek a motivated, organized and detail-oriented Bid & Marketing Manager, Global Sports (100%) to support our efforts in global sports.
The Bid Manager at Herzog & de Meuron will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling and competitive proposals for high-profile architectural projects. This position requires a strategic leader with deep insight into the sports and entertainment industry and a passion for architecture, capable of managing the entire bid process from inception to submission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation and submission of RFQ/RFPs, bids, competition entries and portfolio presentations for owners, owner’s reps or governments, ensuring alignment with Herzog & de Meuron’s design ethos and strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with Partners, business development and other business departments to gather and synthesize information necessary for proposal development.
- Develop a detailed proposal timeline and manage the proposal process, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to meet all deadlines.
- Analyze client requirements and tailor proposals to highlight Herzog & de Meuron’s unique strengths and past successes.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging opportunities and trends in the sports and entertainment sectors.
- Maintain and capture knowledge within a comprehensive database of past proposals and outcomes to inform strategy and improve future submissions.
- Ensure proposals are visually aligned with Herzog & de Meuron’s brand and design standards.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants to enhance understanding of market needs and expectations.
- Track and report on bid progress and outcomes, providing insights to senior management.
- Maintain and update proposal and collateral templates and submission materials to ensure consistency and alignment with Herzog & de Meuron’s standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor`s degree in architecture, marketing or a related field, Master`s preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in bid management within the architecture or construction industry, preferably with sports, entertainment or high-profile projects.
- In-depth understanding of various procurement processes.
- Exceptional graphic, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in InDesign, Microsoft 365 Suite and project management tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for architecture and a good understanding of Herzog & de Meuron.

- Working permit holder in the preferred location except Basel, where a permit or alternatively EU citizenship is required.
