We are seeking a Computational Sustainability Specialist – Focus LCA (100%) to join our Design Technologies (DT) team in Basel.

Your profile:

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or Master’s degree in architecture (university of applied sciences or university). Additional degree in Sustainable Architecture, Building Performance or similar field is an advantage.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in architectural practice and/or dedicated building performance roles.
  • Minimum one year experience in hands‑on LCA project work.

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced expertise in Autodesk Revit and Computational Design (Rhino, Grasshopper). Knowledge of environmental analysis software such as Climate Studio, Ladybug or similar is an advantage.
  • Expertise in model-based calculations of LCA.
  • Good overview of different LCA standards and familiarity with different material data sources (eg. KBOB, OKOBAUDAT, EPDs, etc).
  • Use of commercial LCA software (One Click LCA, or similar) is an advantage.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with other DT specialists to ensure cohesion between digital processes and sustainability workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Foster an open, inclusive culture of knowledge‑sharing and continuous learning.
  • Fluency in English is required. German is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver embodied carbon estimations and certification compliant Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) at different stages of project design.
  • Support the design teams and sustainability specialists in the coordination of analysis inputs, to quantify different design solutions, and interpret analysis results to aid decision-making.
  • Work in coordination with BIM Managers and BIM Leads to gather, analyze, and organize Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) data for integration into existing Rhino and Revit workflows.
  • Maintain and improve existing workflows and create detailed documentation to ensure efficient scalability.
  • Prepare clear, engaging visualizations and reports to communicate findings to Design Teams and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and support internal training workshops on digital workflows and tools.
  • Contribute to internal LCA tool development and do continuous research on new LCA methods and regulations.

As a Computational Sustainability Specialist, you will join the Building Analytics team to lead the integration of Life-Cycle Assessments into design projects. Your role involves translating complex environmental data into actionable insights and collaborating with architects, BIM Managers, and sustainability leads throughout all project phases. The ideal candidate is passionate about sustainability, design, and technology, and thrives in a collaborative, innovative environment. You’ll work within the broader Design Technologies group, partnering with experts across disciplines to embed sustainability into digital design processes and drive innovation.
