SAN FRANCISCO, UNITED STATES — On April 25th, UCSF Health held an open house event, gathering over two thousand doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to commemorate the groundbreaking of the upcoming UCSF Health Helen Diller Hospital. Jason Frantzen and the project team were present and celebrated along with the UCSF Health community.

A series of recorded interviews was screened as part of this event — in the clip below, associate Kwamina Monney explains several key principles of the hospital’s design. The event also included an augmented reality experience that allowed attendees to preview a patient room.

In addition, a ceremony took place on April 27th for invited guests including Jacques Herzog and Jason, amongst other key collaborators, donors, and sponsors of the project. The event was followed by a press session.

The architecture of the new UCSF Health Helen Diller Hospital will integrate the campus and hospital into the landscape of Mount Sutro and the fabric of the city around it. The new building will promote connectivity within the campus by stitching together the existing Moffitt and Long buildings to form one hospital, facilitating a seamless experience for patients, visitors, and staff and a holistic healing environment for all.
