Herzog & de Meuron

LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND – Today, the Titlis Bergbahnen announced the start of construction of Projekt TITLIS. This is an important milestone for the project, situated at 3,000 meters above sea level, which is scheduled for completion in 2029.

H&dM was commissioned in 2017 to renovate the mountain station and activate an existing antenna tower as part of a master plan for the entire summit. The project builds on what has been built: a new restaurant with two cross-shaped volumes is inserted into the existing steel structure; the summit station will integrate the existing cable car infrastructure.

The Titlis is one of the most renowned destinations in Switzerland, attracting tourists from all over the world. Our project on the Titlis is part of a new generation of alpine architecture that seeks to offer visitors an architectural platform for this breathtaking landscape.
