Project
2015-2016

At the northern edge of the village Berg in Thurgau a new residential district for up to 600 inhabitants is to be developed – at the seven and a half-hectare site of Brauchli Ziegelei (a brickwork factory). As an alternative to a suburb of single-family houses or an arbitrary chosen urban typology, we suggest a specific large scale structure embracing a central park, offering its residents a direct connection to the surrounding landscape. The relatively deep buildings with generous set-back areas will offer a rich diversity of living typologies. The factory itself will be redeveloped for new uses and will contribute to the sense of identity of the neighbourhood.
