Herzog & de Meuron

Palle Petersen joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2022 as the practice’s Lead in Sustainability. Together with a dedicated team, an internal workgroup and computational specialists he is designing a consistent workflow from the selection of projects to early design reviews. His work includes internal teaching efforts as well as building strategic partnerships with the private sector and academia. Sustainability to him means balancing the boundaries of the planet with the needs of the people, questioning the status quo and building on the socially and culturally existing.

Palle studied architecture at ETH Zurich and graduated in 2012. After his studies he worked as a carpenter and joined the magazine Hochparterre where he was writing and podcasting, organizing awards and panels, increasingly with a focus on eco-social topics like circular construction or cooperative housing. His private life is dedicated to alpinism and yoga, books and music.
