Herzog & de Meuron

Michael Bär joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2006 with the extension to the Küppersmühle Museum in Duisburg. After working on several projects he took on responsibilities for the concept to construction of the Atelier in Düsseldorf and the Natural Swimming Pool in Riehen.

Michael was born in the Basel region and worked for several years as a silkscreen printer before he studied architecture and urbanism at the University of Stuttgart. In his first years of practice, he worked on small scale practices in Stuttgart before returning to Basel. His teaching experiences include a temporary professorship at the University of Applied Sciences in Konstanz in 1999, and roles as a visiting critic at the Arts Academy in Stuttgart and leading interdisciplinary workshops between urbanism, landscape and architecture students in Italy and in Germany.
