AARAU, SWITZERLAND – Twenty years after the extension to the Aargauer Kunsthaus, H&dM was invited to contribute to its refurbishment: sanding floors, installing energy efficient lighting, and providing subtle changes to the foyer including restored and new furniture, new colors, lighting and textiles. Visitors should now feel even more invited not only to eat or drink something in this ‘living room’, but to also stay, work, or meet and exchange.

The first H&dM project, the renovation and extension of the 1959 museum building by Loepfe, Hänni and Hänggli, was done in close collaboration with Rémy Zaugg.

The Aargauer Kunsthaus now celebrates its re-opening with various events including an Open House weekend on September 2nd and 3rd. The opening exhibition ‘Stranger in the VillageRacism in the Mirror of James Baldwin’ features works by various Swiss and international artists focusing on the experiences of belonging and exclusion.
