BERN, SWITZERLAND, 27 September 2018 – The summit building on the ChĂ€serrugg, the easternmost peak of the seven mountains that make up the Churfirsten Massif in Switzerland, received the first prize in the national 2018 Prix Lignum Award.

The Prix Lignum is handed out every three years in recognition of high-quality and pioneering use of timber in Switzerland.

Realized in 2015, the building is constructed in solid wood on a concrete foundation. It was prefabricated by local craftspeople in the valley and assembled on top of the mountain. We decided to use wood because we wanted to echo local tradition.
