HALLE/SAALE, GERMANY, 26 May 2019 – The Elbphilharmonie has been awarded the 5th BDA Architecture Prize in the category “Nike fĂĽr Symbolik” (“Nike for Symbolism”). The prize is handed out every three years in recognition of high-quality and commendable architecture and urban planning in Germany. In its statement, the Jury described the conjunction of the historic port storage facility Kaispeicher A, and the new glass building on top of the monument as an “almost stupendous horizontal addition of two buildings”.
