Michael Fischer joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2006, became Associate in 2008, and Partner in 2016. He has led various projects in Switzerland including the Actelion Business Center, Roche Building 1, Ricola Kräuterzentrum, apartment housing for Zellwegerpark Uster, and Alpine stations in Chäserrugg. Currently, he is in charge of the development plan for the Roche Basel site, which includes projects for new high-rise office and research buildings (Roche Building 2 and pRED Center).

Michael began his apprenticeship in architecture as a draughtsman in 1988, then from 1992 to 1996 studied and graduated with a diploma in Architecture at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW). He began his career at Burkhalter & Sumi in Zurich from 1996 to 1998 and ran his own practice from 1998 to 2006, receiving various competition prizes and realising a number of projects. From 2003 to 2006, he held the position of Assistant Professor at the Fachhochschule beider Basel.
