Thomas de Vries started his collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron between 2001 and 2002, during his studies as an intern on the Walker Art Center. In 2005 he returned to Herzog de Meuron as an architect and has worked on stadium projects including Stamford Bridge Stadium in London (UK) and Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux in Bordeaux (France); Master-planning projects in Burgos (Spain), Portsmouth (UK), Mexico City (Mexico), London (UK) and Basel (Switzerland); Cultural Projects including the Espacio Goya in Zaragoza (Spain); Housing projects in Burgos (Spain) and Castagnola (Switzerland); and various competitions including Konzerthaus München (Germany) and Erneuerung Klinikum 2 in Basel (Switzerland). In 2011 he became an Associate of the firm.


Thomas studied architecture at the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands from 1993 to 2001 and graduated with a Master’s of Science in both Architecture and Building Technology. From 2003 to 2005 he worked with UNStudio in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on various master plan, building and furniture projects.
