Michael Bekker joined Herzog & de Meuron's London office in 2006. He worked as an architect on the St. Pauls Way, a development project comprising a medical centre and residential towers. Later in 2006, he moved to Basel and began as Project Manager on the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York, USA. He moved with the Parrish Art Museum project to New York City in 2007, where he helped to establish Herzog & de Meuron's New York office. In 2008 he returned to the Basel offices where he played a vital role in the development of all exhibition spaces for the Tate Modern Project in London, UK. He has acted as Project Manager for the Design Development phase of the Kolkata Museum of Modern Art in India, and was involved in the Concept Phase for a project in Korea. In 2011, he began a research project on the museums of Herzog & de Meuron which runs concurrent to his project work.

Michael graduated with honors from Deakin University in Victoria, Australia in 2000. From 2001 to 2005 he worked as an architect and project architect on various high profile projects in Australia and England with Denton Corker Marshall, and became a registered architect in Australia in 2004.
