Marcelo Bernardi graduated as a construction engineer at the School of Engineering of Universidade Mackenzie in São Paulo in 1998. After running his own practice in Brazil for a couple of years, he moved to London for the M.Arch program at The Bartlett School of Architecture with Peter Cook, which he completed in 2002. Before joining Herzog & de Meuron in 2009, he worked with Coop Himmelblau in Vienna on multiple projects in the US, France, Austria, Germany and Denmark.

 

His first project at Herzog & de Meuron was the Cultural Complex Luz in São Paulo where he was the project manager. Further projects include the Messe Basel, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology near Moscow, and the AstraZeneca R&D Centre and Headquarters in Cambridge, UK.

 

He is currently the Project Manager of the Stamford Bridge Stadium project in London.
