Alexander Sadao Franz first joined Herzog & de Meuron in 2002 in our Barcelona office, as part of the Forum 2004 team. From 2004-2006 he worked in Basel primarily on the project for Ciudad del Flamenco in Jerez before moving on to the Canary Islands, where he supervised the construction of the Plaza de España, the Tenerife Espacio de Las Artes, and a private residence. After their completion in 2009, he led part of the BBVA headquarters project in Madrid. Alexander returned to Basel in 2011 working on different projects in Switzerland. In particular, he carried through the construction of an apartment building in Uster until completion. He is currently managing the Research Centre of the new Children’s Hospital in Zurich.

Alexander graduated from the Architectural Association, London in 1999. He had previously collaborated with Shigeru Uchida, Michael Hopkins and Richard Rogers / ABAA. Born in Düsseldorf, his international profile has continuously grown, having worked in Switzerland, Spain, England, Japan and Germany.
