Vitra Schaudepot, Vitra Campus
WEIL AM RHEIN, GERMANY – On Friday, 3 June 2016, the Vitra Schaudepot on the Vitra Campus will open its doors to the public. The visible storage facility designed by Herzog & de Meuron will present a cross-section of the Vitra Design Museum's extensive collection of furniture and lighting. This display of over 400 objects also provides a comprehensive introduction to the history of furniture design. Smaller temporary exhibitions on themes related to the collection will complement the presentation of the museum's holdings. The collection of the Vitra Desing Museum is one of the most important of furniture design in the world. It comprises over 7'000 pieces of furniture, 1'000 lightings, several archives and the private estates of Charles and Ray Eames, Verner Panton and Alexander Girard.
